38     ROAD SIGNS

KEY CONCEPTS:  spirit messages, signals, information, big picture, clear indications, direction, change of plans, detour, details, perspective, hazards, the obvious.

MESSAGE:  A celestial hand emerges from the clouds grasping a traffic signal.  The green light is lit; all systems are go.  Signs are everywhere, dear traveler, and this card tells you to keep your eyes open for messages from Spirit. You may be directed to yield or warned of dangerous curves ahead.   Which is it?  Heed the signs.  Have you exploited the sacred in pursuit of personal gain?  Or are you trodding down a wayward path?  Many a preacher turned charlatan through misuse of Divine talents.  Have you leveraged spiritual authority to further selfish goals? Hopefully not…but alas, many do exactly that.  You’ll recognize them by their signs.

Churches won’t represent themselves with the garish styles of strip joints; restaurant signboards look fancier than markers for public parks.  When you’re new to the motorway, it can all seem confusing.  But you get the hang of reading Road Signs when you’ve resolved to stay the course.  Highway shields indicating various alignments pop up throughout the Route. Sometimes they lead down abandoned stretches of remote, rural roadway; sometimes they highlight Chicago’s congested city streets.  Always awaiting our watchful eyes, signs tell us when we’re heading the right way.

The Infinite unfolds Truth to prophets of every shape and size; It never banished anyone from seeking Divine comfort.  Sacred omnipresence opens endless avenues; it’s a steady traffic flow of signs, gifts, and favor.  Illumined travelers may use portents to consult the Great Sign-Maker….but if you keep rearranging guideposts to point in self-serving directions, you’re lost.  For those who’ve gone astray, correction isn’t judgement but merely a guide.  Did you really want to reach your destination, or are you just collecting road signs?  It’s unsafe backing up to double-check the color of every traffic light.  Toss out those old paper maps:  use your inner guidance to navigate.
