20 ROAD CONSTRUCTION
KEY CONCEPTS: accept, alter, abandon, expect delays, limitations, obstacles, scenic route.
MESSAGE: Our trip generates incessant motion. Moments flash by like snapshots - looking out the windows, in the rearview mirror or at a roadside stand. We accept or reject each new person or thing that enters our life. More commonly we approve some aspects while refusing others. When obstacles arise, it’s a sign that the highway is under construction. Every journey hits the biggest bumps at the outset; they build determination by clarifying intent. Are you sure you’re driving in the proper direction? Watch impediments start to subside.
Road Construction spins us down new thoroughfares; it provides access to unexpected attractions and lets us reexamine our itinerary. Torn up pavement and debris deprive the ride of comfort. They force us out of smooth routines into startling, bumpy detours. All pavement once was gravel, and before that, dirt. Digging deeper you’d find wagon ruts, preceded by ancient buffalo traces. Progress builds on past conventions; it never ends.
Roadblocks offer three choices: accept, alter or abandon. Practice patience by accepting-- even welcoming--inevitable setbacks. Delays might prove beneficial…for all you know, they will save your life. Timing is everything, and a detour could re-route you to avoid a deadly hazard.
Option two lets you seek greater fulfillment by altering your travel plan. Are you so stuck on the destination that you’re missing out on the now? You never know when a side jaunt could supply the best moment of the trip; even the greatest vacation-planner can’t predict every hot spot. New attractions pop up daily. Relax in golden opportunities of the great unknown.
If you’ve grappled with both acceptance and alteration to no avail, try abandonment. When blockage proves impassible, it’s okay to take the exit. When work crews bog progress to a standstill, jump on the interstate for a mile or two. Any obstruction could become your ally if you’re open to new pathways. If you find barricades in every direction, take heed: you have spirit work to do. Travelers who keep lugging the same old baggage hit the same discouraging blockades every few miles. Lighten your load and map another course. Divine Life travels through time and space on boundless highways of your consciousness.
